Workshop
description
Flesh
Hooks and Energy Pulls
Ceremony. Spiritual
Experience. Cathartic Release. Transformational. Energizing. Connecting.
all terms used to describe a hook pull - all depending on
the participant's outlook and experience.
An energy pull
is not a top/bottom activity, nor is it designed to push the limits
of the heavier masochists
it's designed to explore your personal
energy while facilitated by a guide and with the assistance of "pullers"
- though you can do it as a solo journey to while fixed to a stable
inanimate object.
Our workshop
will start with a discussion about the history and cultural relevance
of Flesh Hooks, Energy Pulls, and this form of ritual. We'll discuss
the ritual itself, and discuss the different steps that will be
taken. The guide/presenter will discuss the different experiences
that participants can expect, and the procedure of inserting the
hooks. Some time will be spent discussing safety and precautions,
but it is expected that guests will have an understanding of cross
contamination issues and universal precautions in terms of blood
and fluid. With the agreement of a demo participant, we will observe
the piercing experience, and briefly discuss the sensations.
Through the
energy pull, your personal energy is opened, released, allowed to
circulate, and you have the chance to explore the connections between
your body and your spirit. Participants will be pierced on their
upper chests and connected to a fixed space, work with a puller,
or pull against another participant. Your experience can be a solo
journey or you can chose to involve someone to support your experience.
This workshop
will be open to participants, their helpers, and those who wish
to watch. Those watching are reminded not to interrupt the participant's
experience unless specifically invited by the guide (upon the request
of a participant). Anyone who wishes to participate must bring a
support person to help them "come back down to earth"
when the ritual is over. No one will be permitted to participate
in the ritual unless they have a support person - our organizers
and the guide will not be available to fill these roles. We also
would welcome and appreciate any drummers to join in the ritual
to help create an experience that stimulates all of the senses.
Costs for this
workshop will be slightly higher for participants in order to pay
for the costs of hooks, supplies, and materials. This workshop will
NOT aim to teach guests HOW to pierce themselves or friends for
hook pulls - however those who are trained in such can contact us
if they would like to participate as a piercer. This workshop will
be much longer than our regular workshops, and thus we highly recommend
all guests bring something to eat and drink, and we REQUIRE that
all participants do the same. Participants should also consider
bringing a robe, cloak, or blanket should they wish to cover themselves
after the ritual without dressing immediately afterwards.
This workshop is upcoming. If you would like to teach or attend
this class (or know someone who should), please contact us at p3gatherings
@ gmail. com.
