Workshop
description
Mentorship
There's only
so much you can learn from books and websites
eventually you
want to learn hands-on. Other than finding an adventuresome partner
willing to struggle along with you (or attending P3Workshops
.
) one of the best ways of learning new skills, learning about new
ideas, and learning more about the lifestyle and the community you're
in is mentorship. However, finding a mentor can be an arduous task
filled with people who just don't "get" what you're after,
and finding a good fit can be difficult. Likewise for those willing
to mentor others, sometimes it's a struggle managing people who
think your job is to hand them all they need to know on a silver
platter.
In this workshop
we'll go over some of the positive traits to having a mentor, how
to find a mentor that suits what you want to learn, and how to be
a good "pupil" to a potential mentor. Likewise we'll go
over some of the common 'faux pas' that might keep you from learning
what you really want to learn.
We'll also explore
non-traditional/informal mentorships, and discuss what you can learn
from them, and why to consider them along with more formal mentorship
as you learn more about yourself and the lifestyle.
We'll wrap up
this workshop with some hands-on exercises designed to explore informal
mentorship within the class setting. Because of the pre-workshop
information needed to set this up, we may ask for a short questionnaire
shortly before the workshop that we ask you to fill out and return
in advance of the workshop.
This workshop
will be ideal for those who are new to the lifestyle, those who
are well established in the lifestyle and may wish to share what
they've learnt, as well as for those who are in transition and may
want to benefit from mentorship in another avenue.
This workshop is upcoming. If you would like to teach this class
(or know someone who should), please contact us at p3gatherings
@ gmail. com.
